Community Forge
Community Forge is a vibrant community hub located in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, dedicated to equitable community development. Founded in 2017, the organization transformed the former Johnston Elementary School into a resource for the community, fostering relationships, creativity, and future-oriented skills.
Community Forge offers a variety of programs targeting youth, entrepreneurs, and the broader community. Key initiatives include BootUp PGH, which provides technology education to local youth, and the Entrepreneur Academy, which offers practical business skills to budding entrepreneurs. The organization also supports violence prevention through the CURE Violence East program and provides business services, technical assistance, and networking opportunities aimed at promoting small business growth, particularly Black-owned businesses.
In addition to its educational and business support programs, Community Forge hosts numerous community events, such as open mic nights and the annual Forge Fest, celebrating local artists and businesses. The facility includes co-working spaces, a multimedia studio, and a tech help desk, creating a supportive environment for creativity and professional development.
